Princely court pharmacy
Medical care
The former princely court pharmacy at Langstraße 29 is one of the most striking 18th century town houses in Kirchheimbolanden. This alone underlines the special role of the apothecary.
While its activity in the Middle Ages was more that of a craftsman, it subsequently became a practical life science together with medicine. The princes of the 18th century were therefore very interested in having a pharmacy in their royal seat.
The list of inhabitants from 1774 not only lists a pharmacist among the town’s 1,903 inhabitants, but also four doctors. Medical care in Kirchheimbolanden was therefore
far above average for the general conditions in the 18th century.
