Gerade im ausgehenden 19. Jahrhundert ist diese Instrumentenkombination aus der häuslichen Musizierpraxis nicht wegzudenken. Die perkussiven Klänge des Klaviers und das Orgelhafte des Harmoniums ergänzen sich beide auf kongeniale Weise. Da beide Instrumente eine große dynamische Bandbreite besitzen\, sind sie geradezu prädestiniert für romantische Musik. Und so wird mit Originalkompositionen u. a. von César Franck und Charles-Marie Widor von intimen\, lyrischen Melodien über pittoreske Passagen hin zu mächtigen Chören ein klanglich abwechslungsreicher Silvesterabend geboten.
