Germany Sings

3. October @ 19:00

Under the motto Freedom, Unity, Hope., you are invited to Römerplatz on October 3 at 7 PM.
The nationwide initiative—supported by politicians, music associations, and churches—has been running for six years and calls on people to celebrate the Day of German Unity through singing and music-making, and to gratefully remember the miracle of the Peaceful Revolution and the fall of the Berlin Wall. In light of current crises, candles will be lit as a sign of hope and to give strength to shape the country’s future in unity and lived togetherness.
All participating cities sing the same selection of diverse songs: Amazing Grace, 99 Luftballons, Über den Wolken, We Shall Overcome, Von guten Mächten, and several more.
The singing will be led by the Donnersberg District Choir, the Cantamus Choir, the North Palatinate Brass Circle, and Dean Cantor Dr. Diethelm Schlegel on piano. Overall direction is by District Cantor Ulrike Heubeck.
Representatives from the City of Kirchheimbolanden will deliver a greeting. Starting at 6:30 PM, songbooks and candles will be distributed at Römerplatz, before the communal singing begins at 7 PM.
