House of Diakonie

“Tu Ora” – “You Pray”

The House of Diakonie (Mozartstraße 11) stands out as the building at the top of Mozartstraße, which slopes down from here. It is connected to the neighboring house at Langstraße 28 (Protestant Rectory) by a wide gateway.

Here, one must assume this was the site of the medieval rectory even before the princely era of the 18th century.

Together with the St. Peter’s Church (Mozartstraße 8) [Location 18] opposite it, the social order of the time was architecturally ‘staged’ here in the Middle Ages. For how can the “Tu ora” – “You pray” be more visibly emphasized in urban planning than by being positioned “above the city”? The Church, as an institution, thus became omnipresent for medieval people.

The Baroque residential design then further reinforced these topographical aspects with the rectory.
